A Temporary Traveler

So you may have noticed that things look a little different around here…like I completely changed the name of my blog and stuff like that…

My domain was giving me all sorts of trouble (which is weird since I own that domain, but whatever) so in the end I just decided to start afresh.

I’ve been contemplating time lately. And feeling a little convicted. How much time do I spend on things that are of eternal value and how much do I spend on things that are temporary? As I thought about a regular day, I realized that not a lot of it was spent doing things that are of real worth.

And that’s how the new name came about. I remembered that this world isn’t my forever home, it’s a place I’m called to minister in for a while. I pray that as you read, you are encouraged and we can praise the name of Jesus together.

Springtime

I haven’t been posting much because of the beautiful weather!  We’ve been living outside for the past few days and I haven’t been on the computer a whole lot. My days are filled with:

1. Spring Cleaning!  My family has taken over my chores in order to prepare for the summer when I won’t be here. In return, Caroline and I are spring cleaning the house.  We are almost done with the kitchen!

2. Jumping on the trampoline with my siblings!

3. Glorifying God for his creation!  I always end up doing that in spring especially.

4. Homeschool- helping with my siblings and some friends of ours.

5. Preparing for summer camp- can’t wait!

6. Babysitting

7.  Enjoying my family

8.  Learning more about the Lord through his Word!!

Already?!

As you can see, I’ve made some changes in the look.  Now, I know what you’re thinking: “You’ve only had your blog for five months and you’re changing the theme already?!”  I know, I know.

The problem is, I was looking through all of WordPress’ themes the other day and I found this one that I like more. It has a lot of brown, which I like, but I can also change the background.  I love the journal look, too.

So, there you have it. Call me fickle if you want.

Busyness

We are working on some BIG projects around here.  For Christmas, Caroline and I get to remodel our room and we are starting now.  I can’t tell you all about it because it’s a surprise for Rebecca, Bethany, and David….but it’s going to be AWESOME!!!!!

Anyway, that’s why it’s been kind of slow around here…hopefully it will speed up around the weekend…then again it may not 😛

Leave of Absence

Some good friends of ours are heading to another state for a week and they have invited me to go with them.  So it may be kind of slow around here for the next week.  Just wanted to let you know that I haven’t disappeared for good!

So, to make up for me being gone, I’ll leave you with some quotes.

Patience is the companion of wisdom.  ~St. Augustine

The fool doth think he is wise, but the wise man knows himself to be a fool.
~William Shakespeare, As You Like It

Faith is like radar that sees through the fog.  ~Corrie Ten Boom, Tramp for
the Lord

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life, and the life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. He came as a witness, to bear witness about the light, that all might believe through him. He was not the light, but came to bear witness about the light.
The true light, which gives light to everyone, was coming into the world. He was in the world, and the world was made through him, yet the world did not know him. He came to his own, and his own people did not receive him. But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God, who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.
And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth. (John bore witness about him, and cried out, “This was he of whom I said, ‘He who comes after me ranks before me, because he was before me.’”) For from his fullness we have all received, grace upon grace. For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. No one has ever seen God; the only God, who is at the Father’s side, he has made him known.

John 1:1-18 ESV

What Moms Think of That Daughters Don’t

My family has a private blog that I use to blog about what’s going on around here.  You know, to keep them all updated since none of our family lives near here.  My uncle started this blog and encouraged everyone to use it.  Mostly, it’s just me.  My uncle posts sometimes but usually I feel like I’ve overtaken this blog.  I know my family doesn’t mind because they like to read it.  So I started my own blog and since then, I have only posted one thing on the family blog.  My mom mentioned something about this to me. I responded by saying that I didn’t really think anyone read it except my one uncle.

She explained:  “You have a wonderful opportunity to be a witness to your family.  They have always thought that we forced you to live the way we do, the way that is obedient to Christ.  Through your writing, you can show them otherwise- even if it is just one uncle.”

She’s right.  If I can be a witness to just one person, it’s worth it!  It reminds me of the parable of the lost sheep and the lost coin.

Lesson: Moms have a little more wisdom than daughters.

Why I Wanted to Blog

I’ve been reading other girls’ blogs for many years now.  I always thought it would be fun to have my own blog but didn’t think I could express myself clearly enough, or at least not as well as others.  I never really thought of myself as a great writer.

However, I have noticed that blogs encouraging girls to be godly are VERY hard to find.  I don’t know any girls personally who are staying home after graduation so it would really encourage me if I could find blogs of like-minded girls.  That is one reason I started this blog: I want to be an encouragement to other girls.  I want them to know that they are not alone in this stay-at-home daughter thing.

I also want to learn to express my views better. The world needs girls who know what they believe and can express it in a clear and loving manner.  I will not be offended by any curious questions asked here because I know that staying home after graduation is new to most people.  I have been asked tons of questions and I want to learn how better to respond to them.

And my last reason: I want to have fun!  I could write for hours about funny incidents in our home and I love to make people laugh.  I love to bring a little happiness and joy to others lives and blogging is one way to do that.  I have found that out by experience as I’ve read other blogs.

I’m excited about this blog!  I’m excited to share things I’ve learned and things I’m still learning.  And, believe me, I’m still learning a lot!
